How to use a PS3 controller on your PC

If all goes bad and/or you only have a keyboard. If you have a PS3 controller then Dont Worry! There is a way to hook your PS3 controller to your PC.

Here is a link to download the files : http://dl.qj.net/playstation-3/tools-an ... or-pc.html

Make sure you have Winrar installed to extract it. Here is a link to download Winrar : http://www.rarlab.com/
You can download the free trial. When the trial is up you can still use it but every time you start it up, a message pops up, Nothing to bad.

Once you have downloaded it, extract it through Winrar to wherever you like.

After that, Run libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.10.1.exe to install it, Plug the PS3 into your PC using the USB recharger cable, Run ps3sixaxus_en.exe once then press the PS button on the controller after the black box disappears and there you go.

To make sure its working, goto Control Panel, Game Controllers. If its not on the list either try agian or try to look on the internet for a better tutorial for this xD.

After that it sould work in all games. It doesn't work as good as a wheel would but its way better than a keyboard. Hope this helped you guys :D

Ah nice alternative. This will come in handy when it comes to the games that are ported from Xbox or PS3 to the pc. Many of these have not supported multiple wheels or keyboard. So people coming from the consols will feel right at home too.

Having my PS3 controller on PC has worked great, especially since I like to play some older games like Need for Speed High Stakes (tons of great mods) and old PS1 games via emulator. I also find that it works very well with Test Drive Unlimited.

Hi Everyone, long time fan first time poster.

Another alternative that I prefer is to use an Xbox360 controller and xpadder. Xpadder will map the inputs of the controller to keyboard inputs. This is good because you can map the left joystick for example to the arrow keys. I use this when I'm playing MAME or Super Nintendo Emulators. It also works great for playing older windows games that don't support the 360 controller or older DOS games that don't use the mouse at all.

In this post viewtopic.php?f=108&t=2111&p=15803&hilit=xpadder#p15799, starfox550 mentions a program called JoytoKey. This is a freeware program basically does the samething as xpadder. Since Xpadder is a payware program now I'd recommend giving this one a shot unless you do a google search for xpadder you might find the freeware version that should still work.

I prefer the Xbox360 controller because it's a Microsoft product and makes for less compatibility issues. I have a PS3 MadCatz Street Fighter IV TE Stick. Windows recognizes it oddly as a PC 8328 human input device. All the buttons work pretty much but I can't get it to work on MAME. Oddly enough when I'm in Ubuntu Linux the pad works absolutely fine in MAME. I gotta start trying this out more with some of the fighting games, just for old times sake. ;)

I'll write a more formal introduction later.

I use Pinnacle game profiler for this kind of thing. It's not free, but it's worth it. I use a 360 controller, but it's good for anything.
Extremely robust, you have endless options for settings. Set a stick to walk at <99% forward, run at 100%. Use buttons as toggles, hold button for another control, tap for another, double tap for another, multiple shift buttons if you want...it goes on and on. The more you get used to it the more you see that you can do with it. With time you can map anything you want to a controller, even flight sims (in a pinch).
Wireless 360 controller, wireless headset and the usb receiver and you're in business and wire free. Good for console games you want to play from the couch.
